Each ending would evoke different levels of satisfaction from the readers.
According to Togashi, ending A would be deemed satisfactory by 50% of the readers, while 20% would find it unsatisfactory. Similarly, ending B would elicit a similar split in readers’ opinions. However, Togashi’s personal preference lies with ending C, which would only satisfy 10% of the readers, leaving 90% dissatisfied. Despite these scenarios, Togashi expressed his desire to create an ending that deviates from these three and instead focuses on what he finds most enjoyable.
In addition to the three planned endings, Togashi also revealed a fourth ending labeled as D. This ending was intended as a contingency in case he could not complete the manga. Togashi apologized in advance if such a situation were to occur. The details of this fourth ending were disclosed, providing fans with an intriguing glimpse into a potential conclusion for Hunter x Hunter.
According to the fourth ending, the story revolves around a girl named Jin who catches a mythical creature known as the lake lord. She presents it to a woman and passionately insists on becoming a hunter. The scene shifts to a shop where Jin reflects on her family’s history as hunters. The story takes a heartwarming turn when a child enters the shop, and together they cook food and enjoy each other’s company. As the story concludes, a bird flies away, symbolizing the descendants of the characters from the story.
