Tezuka Productions is embarking on an exciting collaboration for the 50th anniversary of Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack manga. This project, titled “TEZUKA2023,” brings together human creators and AI to create new chapters for this beloved manga series. Building upon the success of their previous project, “TEZUKA2020,” where Tezuka Productions’ creators worked alongside AI to create the manga “Paidon,” this new collaboration takes the partnership to new heights. The AI used in the project was developed through a commission by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and involved the expertise of Professor Satoshi Kurihara from Keio University’s Faculty of Science and Technology, as well as Tezuka Productions’ Director Makoto Tezuka.
Professor Satoshi Kurihara, an expert in the field, expressed his belief in the potential of AI support in creative tasks. This research project, supported by NEDO, aims to explore the relationship between AI, humans, and society. Generative AI systems like ChatGPT have provided a significant boost to the project, allowing for interactive exchanges.
