About Ten Count and its Manga Origins
Ten Count originated as a manga written by Rihito Takarai. It was serialized from 2013 to 2017 in Shinshokan’s Dear+ magazine, spanning 46 chapters compiled into six volumes. The story revolves around Shirotani, a corporate secretary with obsessive-compulsive disorder, who meets Kurose, a therapist. Kurose offers to guide Shirotani through a ten-step program to help him overcome his compulsions. As they progress through the program, Shirotani finds himself growing attracted to his counselor.

The Anticipation and Disappointment of Fans
The cancellation of the Ten Count anime is a disappointment for fans who had eagerly awaited its release. The story’s unique premise and compelling characters had generated significant anticipation. Despite the setback, fans can still enjoy the complete manga series, which has been published in English by Viz Media’s SuBLime imprint.
Ten Count had also previously been adapted into a short web anime called 6 Lovers. The initial plan for the anime adaptation was for it to premiere on television in 2020. However, the staff decided to delay the release to further refine the direction of the story.
It is unfortunate that the Ten Count anime will not be realized as planned. Fans will have to find solace in the original manga and the web anime adaptation. Perhaps in the future, there may be another opportunity to bring this captivating story to life on the screen.
