New 'Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru.' Spinoff Manga Released: 'Hatsukoi Aite no Kimi wa Dare?'

The spinoff manga ‘Hatsukoi Aite no Kimi wa Dare?’ has been released, featuring a high school student’s interest in his classmate who is the reincarnated wife from the original series. The popular manga has also inspired an upcoming anime adaptation.

The spinoff manga ‘Hatsukoi Aite no Kimi wa Dare?’ has made its debut, expanding on the world of ‘Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru.’ The story focuses on Takeru, a high school student who becomes captivated by his classmate Marika, who is the reincarnated wife from the original series. This new spinoff explores their blossoming relationship and Marika’s newfound maturity.

The popularity of the ‘Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru.’ manga has led to an upcoming anime adaptation set to premiere in 2024. The anime will be directed by Noriyuki Abe, known for his work on ‘Yū Yū Hakusho,’ ‘Bleach,’ and ‘Flame of Recca,’ and produced by St.Signpost. Sawako Hirabayashi, who worked on ‘Wolf Girl & Black Prince’ and ‘Delicious Party♡Precure,’ is supervising and writing the series scripts. The character designs are being handle by Narihito Sekikawa.

About ‘Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru.’

‘Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru.’ centers around Keisuke Niijima, a man who remains heartbroken even ten years after his wife Takae passed away. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when an elementary school girl appears at his house claiming to be the reincarnation of Takae. Now, Keisuke must make up for lost time, while Takae struggles to navigate life as a grade schooler with the mind of a woman in her 40s, all in an effort to create situations where they can meet.

The manga originally started as a one-shot in Weekly Manga Times in April 2018 before transitioning into a serialized series in July of the same year. It concluded in December 2022, with the 14th and final volume published in March 2023 by Hobunsha.

Prior to the anime adaptation, ‘Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru.’ also inspired a live-action series that aired from January to March 2022.
