However, Nagai’s primary focus lies in helping those affected in Wajima and restore their lives to normalcy as soon as possible. He acknowledges the ongoing aftershocks and uncertain future.
The Dynamic Production account, echoed his sentiments and expressed uncertainty about the extent of the damage suffered by the works they had lent to the city of Wajima. The company emphasized that the safety and well-being of everyone involved were their top priorities and requested patience.
The Go Nagai Wonderland Museum held a significant collection of Nagai’s works, spanning various genres such as sci-fi (Mazinger Z), magical girls (Cutie Honey), dark fantasy and post-apocalyptic (Devilman and Violence Jack), and ecchi (Harenchi Gakuen). While his works were sometimes controversial, they are now regarded as pioneering contributions to their respective genres. Nagai, born on September 6, 1945, in Wajima, Ishikawa, holds the honorary presidency of the Go Nagai Wonderland Museum. His brother, Yasutaka Nagai, is a novelist.
The fire that ravaged Wajima also destroyed approximately 200 buildings, including the Wajima Morning Market. The blaze erupted in the aftermath of a powerful magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. Subsequent tsunami warnings further exacerbated the damage, causing disruptions in communication and claiming over 200 lives.
As the recovery efforts continue, Go Nagai remains resilient and determined to support his community during these challenging times. His words of gratitude, his commitment to aiding those affected by the disaster serve as a testament to his compassion.
