Dark Gathering Manga Takes a One-Month Hiatus for Schedule Restructuring

Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine has announced that Kenichi Kondō’s Dark Gathering manga will be going on a one-month hiatus starting December 4. The manga will not publish a new chapter in the magazine’s January 2024 issue due to schedule restructuring. However, fans can expect the manga to return in the magazine’s February 2024 issue on January 4.

The decision to put Dark Gathering on hiatus is aimed at allowing Kondō to write the manga in better health conditions. The magazine is currently working on a production system that will ensure the artist’s well-being while continuing the series.

Dark Gathering, written by Kenichi Kondō, debuted in Jump SQ. in March 2019. The manga follows the story of Keitaro Gentoga, an individual who becomes an unwilling magnet for the supernatural. He is reluctantly drawn into the world of ghost-hunting when he meets Yayoi Hozuki, a young girl determined to capture Japan’s most terrifying spirits.

The manga has gained popularity and is set to release its 14th compiled book volume on December 4. Viz Media, the English publisher, will also release the manga’s fifth volume on January 16, allowing fans outside of Japan to enjoy the series.

Dark Gathering has also received an anime adaptation, which premiered on Tokyo MX on July 9. The anime is currently streaming on HIDIVE. Its second cours began on October 1, further expanding the story and captivating the audience.

Fans of Dark Gathering will have to wait patiently for the manga’s return in February 2024. In the meantime, they can catch up on the existing chapters and enjoy the ongoing anime adaptation.
