Nekokurage, the creator of The Apothecary Diaries manga, has been indicted on suspicion of tax evasion, accused of not declaring millions in income and evading taxes. The manga creator has since paid the taxes and sought assistance from a tax accountant.

The creator of The Apothecary Diaries manga, known as Nekokurage, has been indicted on suspicion of tax evasion. The Fukuoka Regional Taxation Bureau accuses Nekokurage of not declaring approximately 260 million yen in income and evading about 47 million yen in taxes from 2019-2021.

The undisclosed income, which includes earnings from manga sales, was allegedly used by Nekokurage to purchase real estate. The investigation revealed that the taxes and fees were not paid until 2022, after the tax office provided instructions to the manga creator.

Nekokurage has since paid the taxes and sought assistance from a tax accountant to ensure proper tax filing in the future. They claimed that the neglect of tax returns was due to ignorance. It’s important to note that this is a personal matter and has no connection to the original light novel series author or anyone else involved in the creation of The Apothecary Diaries manga.

The Apothecary Diaries Manga and Anime

The Apothecary Diaries manga, based on the light novels by Natsu Hyūga, has gained significant popularity since its serialization in 2017. It is published by Square Enix and is also available in English through Square Enix Manga.
